WUDC Botswana Full Payment Due September 2!

*Greetings – this is on behalf of the Registration Director of Botswana

Worlds 2011. Email registration @botswanaworlds.com or grahamsowa

@gmail.comif you have questions about registration.

*

Dear Worlds Participants and Aspiring Worlds Participants:

Here is the list for all verified deposit and final payments we have to

date. You should *check your online account for more detailed information*.

Now, after looking at this list you might have one little question: “WHERE

IS MY MONEY!!!” This is a good question, and one that has two potential

answers with easy solutions:

1.

If you are missing 5 USD – 25 USD from your payment this is because the

bank charged the transfer fee to our account. We need you to pay this

deficit with your final payment. If you have already paid your final payment

please wait to pay by cash or check upon physical registration in Botswana

(no need to send a wire transfer for 20 bucks).

2.

If you are missing a lot more money than that it is probably because we

have your payment proof but have not been able to match it up with your

University because of lack of identifying information in the sender details.

No problem. Just email/forward your proof of payment to *

grahamsowa@gmail.com* right away and you will be all fixed up in under 24

hours. You could also just email us the tracking number and amount and

senders name if that is easier and we can match it this side.

I tried contacting all of you through the email addresses you registered

with but some of those accounts are no longer in service. So if this is the

first time you are hearing about this I’m sorry, but we really did try to

email everyone a few times each in the past days. If you would like to

update your email address please feel to do so. If you need to write me an

angry email you are also free to do that, just keep it short. But *please

check your online account before emailing me* – we’ve written comments where

appropriate and you might find the answer there.

Institutions who have not paid deposits and not contacted us will be *dropped

in 48 hours*. 5 days after the deadline to pay in full (2nd of September),

teams who have paid deposits but not paid in full will also be dropped.

Deposits will not be refunded or transferred between teams/institutions or

pooled together to become full payment for a team. Teams on the waiting list

should prepare to get ready to pay.

The full list can be viewed at http://www.botswanaworlds.com/paymentstatus

IUT IV 2010

IUT IV 2010

It is with great pride and delight, we would like to let all of you know that Islamic University of Technology Debating Society [IUTDS] is going to host a national scale debating competition in IUT called IUT INTER VARSITY 2010 [IUT IV 2010] from 16th September 2010. IUTDS a proud host of “IUT 1st BANGLADESH OPEN”, the first ever international tournament on Bangladeshi soil, back in 2007, now plans to redefine the excellence on national scale once again after its triumphant success in hosting the nationals last year.

This will truly be an amazing weekend of debating, accompanied with great food, pizza night, cultural show, chilling on the deck with pirates and a posh dinner at an extravagant hotel. We want to raise the standards of English debate in the Bangladesh debating scenario by providing you with six preliminary rounds of debate and the best adjudication core possible. We want to show what class is all about and redefine excellence!

Summarizing in short,

What’s up? IUT IV 2010
When? 16th September 2010 – 19th September 2010
Where? IUT, Gazipur
Team Cap: 4 (four) per institution
[we will strictly follow N-1 rule for adjudicators from participating institution]
Why? Cuz u love debating and we love adding a bit of spice to it 😀
How? All mysteries shall evaporate when you board the bus bounded for Gazipur!

* We have limited amount of seats available for observers and trainees too.
** Further details about the tournament and registration shall be published soon.

For further info about the tournament, feel free to drop in a mail or call at tahsinzone@hotmail.com or 01715-691819

ARE YOU EXCITED? WE ARE!!

WUPID 2010: Registration Opens!‏

On behalf of the WUPID secretariat, it is my pleasure to formally invite you to WUPID 2010, taking place from December 18 – 23, 2010 at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Debating
All debates will be in standard British Parliamentary format. All resolutions will be tightly linked to the theme – peace, with our very capable CA ensuring a wide variety of topics are debated. There will be a cap of 60 teams. There will be five preliminary rounds. 16 registered teams, will then break to quarter-finals. Awards will be given to the champions, finalists and top 10 speakers.

Adjudication
The Chief Adjudicator of this year’s tournament is Iqbal Hafiedz. In addition to being the founder of the Malaysian Institute for Debate and Public Speaking (MIDP), Hafiedz’s accomplishments include: All-Asians best speaker and Worlds ESL quarter-finalist. Our Deputy Chief Adjudicator will be Faisal Moideen, Mediha Mahmood, Dr. Kamalan Jeevaratnam, Ray D’ Cruz and two more internationally renown adjudicators that will be announced very soon. (Please visit here for updates.)

In addition to Hafiedz and his deputies, Malaysia has access to an incredibly deep judging pool. Between the UPM (host university) debating club, UPM alumni and other debaters in Malaysia, we have multiple Regional and National debating champions, as well as numerous members who have broken as judges or adjudicators at worlds. We’re confident of the quality of judging in every room.

The judging requirement will be n-1, rounded down. If a team is unable to fulfill their judging requirement then this can be waived at the discretion of the organizers. We strongly encourage those teams who feel like they need a waiver to contact us, rather than sending an adjudicator who may be uncomfortable judging.

More Information
For a complete detail on the event, please visit wupidmania.wordpress.com. Hope to see lots of you there! And any questions, please send to wupid@hngsc.com .
